For: Solo, Family, Date Night
When: Saturday Nights – Free Entry
How: 7 train Flushing Bound – get off at 111th street, about 5 blocks from station next to Space Museum.
What to do: Show Up Hungry.
Authentic food at its finest; vendors from NYC and all of the boroughs gather here to sell their best items. Favorite desserts include but not limited to crème brulee in puffed pastry by the one and only Joey Bats, as well as Twister Cakes stuffed with ice cream and toppings of your choice. Not only is there great food but there’s also music – local DJ’s and bands play from 5PM until Midnight. Got little ones? Upbeat T-Swift, pop songs; Cha Cha slide like music and other children friendly songs are played all night. Close by in walking distance is the Unisphere globe, which hosts a massive water fountain that welcomes play of all ages. We highly suggest you take the plunge on hot days and relax on the lawn where locals are grilling skewers of all kinds, fresh corn and playing music and volleyball. Crowds here are typically very friendly.
What to Bring: towels if participating in water activity, zip block bag for your cellphone (you’ll want inside pictures of the architecture that most fail to capture), cash for food and crafts.
Extra Notes: Queens Zoo – open every single day of the year, if you’re thinking of a one day trip to a borough this should be your morning stop if attending the Night Market with little ones.
